Thursday’s card: €6 on Chicago Bears moneyline at 1.6452; €44 unallocated. One selection survived the source, price and probability checks. The margin over break-even is only 1.12 percentage points, so this is a deliberately small fictional stake—not a full-bankroll play and not a claim of certain value.
All times are Europe/Dublin. The odds snapshot was observed at 05:00 on 22 October 2026 and can move. This edition follows the site’s methodology: contemporaneous price evidence, official event information, explicit uncertainty, item-level settlement and no reconstructed total from the unaudited early archive.
First: settle the 21 October card
Wednesday’s published edition recorded no selection: €0 staked and €50 unallocated. There is therefore no result, return or profit/loss movement to settle.

Verified running record
The verified subset is unchanged: 32 settled singles, 17 wins and 15 losses; €294.00 settled stakes; €311.38 returns; verified net +€17.38; ROI 5.91%. Arithmetic: €311.38 − €294.00 = €17.38, and €17.38 ÷ €294.00 = 5.91%. It starts on 9 October and excludes the unaudited early archive, including the assumed 1.89 Kansas City price recorded on 20 September. The sample is small and is not a forecast.

Settlement rule: standard NFL moneyline, including overtime. A Chicago win returns €6 × 1.6452 = €9.87 after rounding; any New England win returns €0. Availability and limits vary by location.
Why Chicago makes the cut—barely
The official NFL game centre confirms both clubs are 4–2 and the game is at Soldier Field. Its current comparison gives Chicago the better scoring rate (25.0 to 22.7 points per game), yardage rate (388.3 to 374.2) and sack total (17 to 14), though those are descriptive—not a standalone forecast.
The AgentBets multi-book board, timestamped 04:00 UTC, lists DraftKings −155 on Chicago. That converts to 1 + (100 ÷ 155) = 1.6452 and a break-even win rate of 1 ÷ 1.6452 = 60.78%. Dimers’ matchup model gives Chicago 61.9% and projects Bears 26–23. The model estimate is therefore only 1.12 percentage points above the price threshold.
The availability case leans Chicago. New England’s official final injury analysis says starting guards Alijah Vera-Tucker and Ben Brown plus corner Carlton Davis III and two reserve corners are out; Walter Rouse and Matt Pryor are due to start at guard. The Bears are not healthy either: their final report lists Kyle Monangai and Jack Sanborn out, T.J. Edwards doubtful and Tyrique Stevenson questionable.
Strongest counterargument and uncertainty
This is not a comfortable favourite. New England arrives on a three-game winning run, while a detailed Pats Pulpit matchup comparison gives the Patriots an edge in four of six units, arguing Drake Maye and the coaching staff can scheme around the depleted line. Chicago also lacks both starting edge defenders: the Bears’ own preview says Montez Sweat is suspended and Dayo Odeyingbo is on injured reserve. On a short week, one model’s 1.12-point cushion is well inside ordinary forecast error. That is why the fictional stake is €6 and not €50.
What was screened and passed over
The same 04:00 UTC odds board was checked against official fixture sources across four sports. A quoted favourite or a positive cross-book normalization was not enough without an independent, event-specific probability case.
| Sport / official fixture | Candidate price | Break-even / screen | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| NFL: Patriots at Bears, 01:15 Fri NFL | Chicago ML, DraftKings −155 (1.6452) | 60.78%; independent model 61.9% | €6 selection; margin only 1.12 points. |
| NBA: Cavaliers at 76ers, 00:00 Fri NBA | Cleveland +2.5, DraftKings +100 (2.00) | 50.00%; no robust independent estimate | No bet. The official 22:00 ET report still had Jarrett Allen and Dean Wade questionable. |
| NHL: Hurricanes at Oilers, 02:00 Fri NHL | Carolina ML, 888sport −110 (1.9091) | 52.38%; cross-book no-vig screen about 51.90% | No bet. Screen is below break-even and no independent probability case cleared the gap. |
| Europa League: Celtic v Celta, 20:00 Thu UEFA | Celtic ML, LowVig.ag +180 (2.80) | 35.71%; three-way no-vig screen about 34.77% | No bet. UEFA also records Celtic’s 1–3 and 1–4 European losses so far. |
Worked lesson: tiny model margins deserve tiny stakes
At 1.6452, €6 returns €9.87 if Chicago wins. Using the 61.9% model estimate, expected profit is €6 × [(0.619 × 1.6452) − 1] = about €0.11. That is positive in the model, but economically tiny.
If the true chance is merely 60.0%—only 1.9 points below the model—expected profit becomes €6 × [(0.600 × 1.6452) − 1] = −€0.08. The sign flips on a very small probability error. The practical lesson is not “bet favourites”; it is to make stake size reflect the fragility of the estimate and to leave capital idle when the evidence does not justify exposure.
